About the Role
The Capital Equipment Sales Engineer grows sales of the premium European woodworking machinery NuTek imports and services — Ott edgebanders, KRC CNC routers, Omaksan boring and drilling centers, and Jowi transport racks — to cabinet, furniture, and millwork manufacturers. This is a consultative, technical sales role: you'll partner with manufacturers to understand their production goals, specify the right equipment, and guide each opportunity from first conversation through quote, close, and a clean handoff to installation, selling both directly and through our dealer network. We provide full product and factory training, including at our manufacturers in Europe, so a strong sales foundation and mechanical aptitude matter more than experience with any specific machine — though capital-equipment or industrial-machinery sales experience is strongly preferred.
What You'll Do
- Develop new business — prospect and win cabinet, furniture, and millwork manufacturers, and manage a healthy, well-organized pipeline across your territory.
- Assess & specify — conduct plant visits and needs assessments, then recommend the right edgebanders, CNC routers, boring/drilling centers, and transport systems for each customer's application.
- Quote & close — prepare quotes, proposals, and return-on-investment justifications, and negotiate and close orders.
- Demonstrate — conduct and coordinate machine demonstrations at our facility, customer sites, and trade shows.
- Grow the channel — support and develop NuTek's dealer and distributor relationships.
- Trade shows — represent NuTek at industry events such as IWF (Atlanta) and the AWFS Fair (Las Vegas).
- Coordinate — work closely with the service and parts teams for smooth installation, training, and after-sale support.
- Track & forecast — maintain accurate records, forecasts, and activity in the company's CRM and quoting tools.
- Other duties as prescribed by management to support the Sales department.
Customer Relations & Professionalism
Building and protecting customer relationships is the heart of this role. You're frequently the face of NuTek — often the first and most consistent point of contact a customer has with the company — and every visit, call, demonstration, and trade-show interaction shapes how they view us. We expect a professional appearance and demeanor at all times; clear, honest, respectful communication; prompt follow-through on commitments; and the judgment to act in the long-term interest of both the customer and NuTek.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Proven B2B sales experience with a record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- A consultative, solution-oriented selling style and the ability to build trust with owners, plant managers, and engineers.
- Mechanical and technical aptitude — comfort learning how machinery works and explaining it clearly to customers.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly, including overnight and occasional multi-week stretches.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and self-management.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Capital-equipment or industrial-machinery sales experience — strongly preferred.
- Experience selling into woodworking, cabinet, furniture, or millwork manufacturers.
- Familiarity with edgebanders, CNC routers, or boring/drilling centers, or equivalent exposure to industrial production equipment.
- Experience managing a territory and pipeline in a CRM (such as HubSpot or Salesforce).
- A technical degree, trade background, or equivalent hands-on experience.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary plus commission, with real upside for strong performers.
- Full benefits, company-paid travel, and a vehicle or mileage arrangement.
- Paid product and factory training, including at our manufacturers in Europe.
- A growing company where strong performers earn a real head start as we build out the sales team.
Travel & Working Conditions
This is a field-based sales role built around regular travel to customer facilities and trade shows, including overnight trips and occasional multi-week stretches. Expect time on active manufacturing floors during plant visits and machine demonstrations — standing and walking for extended periods, with occasional lifting of sample parts or demonstration materials up to roughly 25 lbs.
